James is an associate at LeGros Buchanan & Paul with an extensive background in maritime operations. He has worked both as a crewmember on tugboats throughout the Puget Sound and Southern British Columbia, as well as a stevedore in a handful of remote ports throughout Western Alaska. He has assisted in-house counsel at a major transportation organization, worked for Thomas Miller and the UK P & I Club as a claims executive, and implemented new regulatory requirements (Subchapter M) for Dunlap Towing Company’s tugboat fleet in Everett, Washington.
James completed his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Washington State University in 2008. In 2015 he graduated cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law. He pursued his passion for the maritime industry earning his LLM in Admiralty Law from Tulane University School of law with distinction in 2017. While at Tulane Law he was awarded two academic awards for excellence and wrote for the Tulane Law Maritime Law Journal. James is admitted to practice law in Washington (2015) and is a member of the Maritime Law Association.
